Sofie’s work circles around memory, identity, and her Vietnamese roots.
At its heart is her Bà Nội and the women who may have shared her world. Because she never truly got to know her grandmother’s story, she works with imagination and fragments: old photographs, landscapes, traces of history, and small everyday moments.
Painting becomes a way of reaching toward something just out of reach.
Her canvases inhabit that in-between space quiet and restrained, somewhere between remembering and imagining.
